The Thrive in 2025 Parent Assembly Conference, held at the stunning Opal Cove Resort in Coffs Harbour, brought together over 180 parents from across the Diocese of Lismore for a vibrant and uplifting day focused on practical strategies, connection, and wellbeing.

Led by Janita Thomson, the Family Partnerships team played a key role in delivering an inspiring and well-run event.

The conference featured a powerful line-up of nationally respected speakers. Renowned parenting expert Maggie Dent inspired with her keynote From Sandpit to Adulthood, sharing ten practical keys for raising resilient children and highlighting the value of challenge, failure, and growth. Brad Marshall, known as The Unplugged Psychologist, offered timely insights into managing technology in daily family life, while occupational therapist Angela Lockwood shared tools for improving self-regulation and emotional wellbeing in both parents and children.

The atmosphere throughout the day was one of warmth, reflection, and encouragement. Many parents welcomed the rare opportunity to step back from routine and return home with renewed clarity and confidence.

‘I am very grateful for the experience and feel so empowered. The excellent speakers provided me with practical strategies I can take back to my family, especially around role modelling healthy habits with technology and emotions,’ said one parent.

The Thrive in 2025 Parent Assembly Conference stands as a testament to the power of community in nurturing confident, connected, and faith-filled children across our Catholic schools.
