St Augustine's Primary School, Coffs Harbour, Firefly Arts Festival dazzled visitors with a vibrant showcase of student creativity, dynamic performances, and community spirit, lighting up the night with hope and colour. (25 June 2025)

A magical celebration of creativity illuminated the night at St Augustine's Primary School, Coffs Harbour, Firefly Arts Festival. Now in its fourth year, the festival once again brought the school community together for an unforgettable evening of light, art, and performance.

The atmosphere was electric from the start. The mouthwatering aroma of wood-fired pizza and sizzling sausages filled the air as families gathered to enjoy delicious food and connect in the lively community hub near the canteen.

Visitors were awestruck upon entering the school, transformed into a vibrant wonderland bursting with colour, music, and joyous celebration. The Wet Weather Area showcased a stunning static art exhibition, highlighting the diverse talents and creativity nurtured across every classroom.

The stage came alive with high-energy dance performances and a heartfelt choral finale on the field, as students performed with confidence, joy, and passion. Surrounding them, student artwork was digitally animated and projected across the school grounds, creating a breathtaking gallery of glowing, luminous colour, a true festival showstopper.

‘Gobsmacked by the talent and dedication of the SAPS staff and students last night. Such an uplifting event,’ said parent Chris.

‘Last night, the Firefly festival was something I can't describe because it was so amazing. The theme was hope. The paintings were beautiful. Everyone was having fun. Firefly was bright and colourful!’ said Year 3 student Islah.

Each year, the group added its own unique charm with themed installations that captured the imagination. Kindergarten to Year 2’s enchanting Garden of Hope mesmerised visitors with glowing handmade butterflies and blossoming flowers, a radiant garden alive with light and life.

With over 1,500 attendees, Firefly 2025 was a spectacular celebration of what can be achieved when imagination, collaboration, and community come together to shine.
