The ‘Let’s Make Art - Finnies Fringe Festival’ at St Finbarr’s Primary School, Byron Bay, was a vibrant, community-driven celebration of the Creative Arts. Over a transformative 10-week period, students explored various art techniques, combining natural and artificial materials to create pieces showcasing their creativity and skill.

‘I loved exploring the Art Gallery and learning about the different artists and artworks. It was very fun and interesting,’ said Year 1 student Polly.

A highlight of the festival was the ‘My Story’ portrait competition, where students created portraits of meaningful individuals inspired by themes of family, community, and culture. This encouraged students to reflect on how family or cultural connections shaped their subjects' lives.

‘My daughter was so proud to share her artwork at Finnie's Fringe Fine Arts Festival, showcased in a beautiful space. It was a special evening that she could share with her family and grandparents. She now wants to be an artist when she grows up,’ said Parent Lara.

The festival culminated in a joyful evening, with families and community members gathered to admire the artwork, enjoy live music, and celebrate creativity.

The Finnies Fringe Fine Arts Festival embodied the power of the Arts, leaving a lasting impact on students and families who came together to celebrate this shared journey of artistic exploration.
