St Patrick’s Primary School, Macksville, was filled with joy and laughter as the community gathered for its beloved Grandparents, Godparents, and Good Friends Day. On Wednesday last week, students welcomed an incredible turnout of family and friends who joined them in a morning of celebration, learning, and faith, starting with a hearty sausage sizzle breakfast.
Grandparents, godparents, and family friends joined students for a joyful day of classroom activities, games, and displays of student achievements, ending with a heartfelt prayer service by Wildfire, whose vibrant music united everyone in faith and shared values.
After this special day, Wildfire led workshops over two days, helping students deepen their relationship with Jesus through music and song, leaving a lasting impact on the school community by fostering meaningful connections and conversations.
‘G-Day is one of our biggest community events, bringing together students, grandparents, godparents, and good friends to celebrate student achievements and strengthen connections. This year, Wildfire made the event even more special by sharing the uplifting message of Jesus’s constant presence and His great love for us with everyone in attendance. My highlight was seeing the family members and special visitors interacting with each other and enjoying the music from Wildfire,’ said Principal Julie Ryan.
For students, the day provided a unique opportunity to share their school experiences with loved ones. ‘It’s important to have my grandparents be a part of my school life and see all the great things I do. Nan always says she is proud of me no matter what I do. I like seeing the smile on her face when she comes.’ said Year 6 Student Eli.
Grandparents, Godparents, and Good Friends Day at St Patrick’s Primary School was more than just an event; it was a celebration of faith, family, and community, creating treasured memories and reinforcing the bonds that unite this vibrant school community.
