At only 16 years old, Mount St Patrick College, Murwillumbah, student Isabella Miller represented the Solomon Islands in Women’s 50m Freestyle Swimming at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Isabella was selected as the flag bearer for her country, donning a traditional dress, beautifully paying homage to her heritage. Bella's achievement has filled the school community with immense pride. Bella attended both St Ambrose Catholic Primary School, Pottsville, and Mount St Patrick Primary School, as well as Murwillumbah primary schools, before attending Mount St Patrick College.

Currently, in Year 11, Isabella balances training sessions with her studies. Isabella says she is lucky that her training pool is down the road from her school, and she usually trains four to five times a week, but she cuts training down to two times a week when she has exams. Bella excels in all her sports outside of school, having also competed in Synchronised Swimming at a national level for five years. Her family and school community are both incredibly proud of her accomplishments, her dedication and spirit. Bella's remarkable achievements are a testament to her hard work and cultural pride, making her a true inspiration to her peers and community.

Isabella competed in Heat 3 of the Women’s 50m Freestyle, finishing with a time of 31:32s and ranking 67 out of 79 competitors.

Congratulations to Isabella on her incredible achievement. Her dedication and hard work are an inspiration. Bella's journey from a passionate student-athlete to an Olympic competitor showcases the extraordinary heights one can reach with perseverance and support.

We look forward to celebrating more of her successes in the future.
