The McAuley Fest, a cherished tradition that originated from the creative minds of the 2020 HSC Music class, has blossomed into a beloved annual event.
The fourth year of this festival was a resounding success, featuring over 20 musical performances by students and staff, alongside an art competition with over 80 entrants. The festival drew an impressive attendance of more than 350 people, all eager to support and celebrate the creative achievements of the school community.
The collaborative efforts of staff and students in organising the festival were evident, showcasing the school's strong sense of community and teamwork. A standout feature of the evening was the sound system, expertly managed by former 2023 College Captain Nash Crofton. Improvements in lighting and setup, overseen by teacher Ashley Esad, added to the professional ambience of the event.
The McAuley Fest received overwhelmingly positive feedback, a testament to the talent and dedication of McAuley’s students and staff. Attendees praised the professionalism and enthusiasm of the performers, especially those debuting on stage.
The event was supported by local businesses and organisations such as headspace Grafton, Vinnies North Coast, The Local Grafton Parish, The Book Warehouse Grafton, Bentley Market Grafton, and Professor Pedram Khosronejad of Grafton Regional Gallery underscored the event's strong community spirit.
‘The annual McAuley Fest was an unforgettable night. The music was amazing, the art inspiring, and the spirit of collaboration and fun was evident throughout the evening. Congratulations to all students and staff who dedicated their time and effort to make the night a resounding success,’ said Dianne McGowan, Assistant Principal Learning and Teaching.
The McAuley Fest, a night of creativity, connection, and community, continues to embody the spirit of McAuley College. It leaves a lasting impact on all who attend, inspiring the college to continue fostering a culture of artistic expression and community engagement. All the proceeds from this year's event were generously donated to the St Vincent de Paul Society.
