Governor-General, His Excellency, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and his wife, Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, returned to the Northern Rivers to visit the students and staff at Xavier Catholic College, Ballina. (Friday, 5 April 2024)
Xavier Catholic College, Ballina, was honoured to welcome the Governor General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), and his wife, Mrs Linda Hurley, back to their school on Friday, 5 April. Their Excellencies had previously visited the school to learn about their role as a flood evacuation centre and field hospital.
During their visit, their Excellencies had the privilege of witnessing the enthusiastic talents of our students in the musical production, Popstars. The students' performances, which included several numbers from the show, undoubtedly left a lasting impression on our distinguished guests, showcasing the depth of talent at Xavier Catholic College.
In a touching moment, Her Excellency joined Xavier students in singing You Are My Sunshine and even performed an original song she had written for her visit to the Northern Rivers. This personal touch, a testament to the warmth and connection of the visit, was deeply appreciated by all, further enhancing the special nature of the morning.
Following the musical performance, Hospitality students had the privilege of serving morning tea to their esteemed guests. This was a truly special opportunity for students to showcase their skills and engage with such distinguished visitors in a warm and welcoming setting.
