Congratulations to an exceptional group of students from St Joseph's College, Banora Point, who swept last year's 2023 Northern NSW FUSE Cup.

This unique two-day school competition is a series of Esports games that brings together players from across NSW, QLD, VIC and WA for different age groups, promoting fun, good sportsmanship and healthy gaming habits.

The FUSE Cup provides an opportunity for students to experience competitive gaming in a safe and supported environment, as well as providing opportunities for open dialogue with students about how to be safe and respectful online.

St Joseph’s team descended on Emmanuel College, Carrara, for a fierce and dynamic competition. The team blasted their way through each event due to their impressive team performances and individual skills in Mario Kart and Just Dance.

Year 8 student Lachlan Fyfe showcased his exceptional skills by dominating the Mario Kart circuit and emerging as the NSW High Schools State Champion.

‘It was very fun, an awesome setup, and felt very rewarding,’ said Lachlan.

The Just Dance team blitzed their way to the top, taking the NSW State Champions and 2nd in the FUSE Cup Just Dance Esports National Competition. An outstanding achievement for the college team members Leila, Aksa Itty, Khya and Dakina.

‘The FUSE Cup was one of the best times of my life! From being a spectator to participating in Just Dance, every moment was so fun! I look forward to it next year,’ said Year 7 student Dakina.

‘The FUSE Cup Festival - State and National Finals, were truly an extraordinary experience. The students had trained throughout the year and were thoroughly deserving of the title they earned,’ Mr Sunny Lindsay - IT Support.

Congratulations to the students and staff from St Joseph’s College.
