It was an extremely successful Catholic Schools Week for St Joseph’s Primary School, Woodburn, with each Stage playing an integral role in the week-long celebration of this year’s theme, ‘Living our Mission.’

The week began with a beautiful Liturgy led by Stage 1, introducing Catholic Schools Week with the theme of letting your light shine every day. Tuesday was filled with fun obstacles and exciting activities as they competed in a thrilling Amazing Race game organised by the Student Representative Council.

On Thursday, Year 6 students focused on providing generous acts of service for their community.

The excursion began with a visit to the local Woodburn Preschool, giggling and chatting with the preschoolers as they presented each preschooler with a colourful handmade origami fish kite. The preschooler's amusement could be felt as they ran around the playground with these beautiful gifts.

Under the shade of palm trees, these fantastic Year 6 students displayed service at Riverside Park, nestled on the bank of the Richmond River, picking up rubbish and keeping their environment clean. They finished their day with a walk along Woodburn’s River Street, greeting each shop and handing out succulents to remind them that they were still in their prayers.

‘It felt really good; it felt like we were helping others and giving others strength,’ said Year 6 student Leila.

The week concluded with a beautiful Catholic Schools Week Mass attended by many parents with open classrooms and finishing with a lovely shared picnic lunch together.
