Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead (AWTL)

Category B: Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School for all new teaching staff.

Catholic Identity and Mission is the online course for all new teaching staff in the Diocese of Lismore. It is offered through the Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation (VLCFF) of Dayton University. The course runs for three weeks, involving approximately 12 hours of learning through readings, online blogs and interactive opportunities with other teachers in our diocese.

All beginning teachers  (graduates and those who are new to Catholic education in 2023) are required to complete this course in their first year of appointment, as part of the requirements of AWTL. Staff need to register through MyLearning, nominating one study cycle that best suits their needs.

Option 1: 17 April - 8 May
Option 2: 19 June - 10 July
Option 3: 16 October - 6 November

Teachers required to complete this online course are asked to choose carefully the cycle that best suits their schedule in order to ensure successful completion. The course does involve a cost that is initially covered by the Catholic Schools Office (CSO). Subsequent enrolments may be at the cost of the participants.

Please note that the CSO recognises prior learning (in writing) for teachers entering from other Catholic systems. Approval for recognition of prior learning and the meeting of accreditation expectations will be through the appropriate personnel on behalf of the Assistant Director, Mission Services. Accreditation should be uploaded to the User Portal - My Profile site on agreement of prior learning.

Once registered through My Learning, Dayton University will be in contact with course details and procedures. For further information, please contact Ann Thurgate.
