What is joy and where do we find it in the midst of conflict, fear and anxiety? This week The Soul revisits the Proclaim Lismore project by exploring joy through the eyes of our youth and reminds us of the opportunity to find joy within ourselves despite our external world.

Pope Francis often speaks on the topic of joy. He reminds us that joy is a grace and a gift of the Holy Spirit, rather than just positive emotions or feeling cheerful. Joy “is not the consequence of emotions that burst for a wonderful thing... No, it is more,” he said on April 16. “This joy, this which fills us, is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Without the Spirit one cannot have this joy.”
