Teacher Leadership

International author, Chris Lowney, has been one of the most inspiring presenters to visit the Lismore Diocese in recent years. Chris strongly believes that we are all serving as leaders, in some capacity, all the time. He also strongly believes good leadership is adaptive leadership.

The adaptive leadership displayed by you in the COVID-19 blended learning delivery has been remarkable. Teacher innovation, agility in planning, adaptability to change, and dedication to students has been acknowledged around the world. This is because, like all essential workers, teachers are engaged in a vocation of service. Serving others is how they lead.

Leaders are not born, they are formed. This formation happens through the spiritual and professional development of our skills, values and desire to carry forward our educational ministry. Inspired by the Gospel, Catholic school teachers have an innate realisation of the sacredness of each student. And that’s leading. Bravo to every one of you!
