13. The Daily Soul
As we transition from Blended Learning back into the classroom, The Daily Soul will also transition to a weekly e-newsletter called The Soul.
Published each Wednesday, with all the usual features, The Soul will remain focused on the wellbeing and spiritual communion of our staff during the tumultuous times of COVID-19. Schools are welcome and encouraged to share any aspect of The Soul with students, parents and communities.
Please help us evaluate and improve the newsletter by completing this survey.
Every canonized saint in the Catholic Church has a day honouring them known as their feast day. It may be the day of their death or a day assigned to them by the Church.
Today, the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima celebrates a well-known Marian apparition in Fatima, Portugal. Three shepherd children reported that the Blessed Virgin Mary visited them on May 13 and through the following 5 months in 1917. She asked them to devote themselves to the Holy Trinity and to pray “the rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and to end the war”.
An exciting new feature film is also due for release later this year. This trailer powerfully captures the unfolding drama surrounding the apparitions prior to their official recognition by the Vatican in 1930.
The Rosary will be the feature prayer in The Daily Soul today in honour of Our Lady of Fatima.
This section of The Weekly Soul focuses on the coming Sunday. It provides resources on how to better engage in online Mass, prepare for the Sunday Readings and share a weekly prayer with colleagues.
This week’s reflection on ‘the Spirit of Truth’ is from ‘Opening the Word’, found on the FORMED platform.
- The Divine Mercy Chaplet will be shared at 3pm each Friday on the Proclaim Lismore social media platforms and featured on the following Wednesday in The Soul.
- Here is a beautiful litany to commemorate the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima. This song draws from all the wonderful images and experiences that honour Mother Mary throughout the world.
- This week’s playlist Spotify Playlist is in honour of our mothers.
- Musicians all over the world are choosing to share their gift over the internet instead of shutting down during the pandemic. In solidarity, musicians are collaborating to bring people together during this difficult time. 300 strangers from 15 different countries participated in this beautiful virtual rendition "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.
- In the school holidays, Alex Pereira and Laurie Pratt launched the Wildfire @Home projects with one of their favourite worship songs, Echo. This project unites us together in worship and praise during this turbulent time.
- Sacred Space: The Irish Jesuits have been producing Sacred Space, a compilation of daily prayer and reflection, for over twenty years. This resource is now available as a convenient phone app.
- Connected in Christ is a weekly worksheet for children which focuses on the Sunday Gospel. Grandparents can also work through activities together with their grandchildren and remain connected even if physically separated.
Here you will find a selection of featured resources that may be useful in the delivery of blended learning. These resources will also be stored on the Home Learning Site under the Learning Tab.
