Joy_80.jpg

What is joy and where do we find it in the midst of conflict, fear and anxiety? This week The Soul revisits the Proclaim Lismore project by exploring joy through the eyes of our youth and reminds us of the opportunity to find joy within ourselves despite our external world.

Joy

Pope Francis often speaks on the topic of joy. He reminds us that joy is a grace and a gift of the Holy Spirit, rather than just positive emotions or feeling cheerful. Joy “is not the consequence of emotions that burst for a wonderful thing... No, it is more,” he said on April 16. “This joy, this which fills us, is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Without the Spirit one cannot have this joy.”

These students and Youth Ministry Officers were interviewed in the lead up to the SHINE student gathering in 2018. Their honesty and wisdom provides great insight into developing an understanding of joy.

Wildfire_Campaign_V2_92.jpg

In an upcoming project, Proclaim Lismore Wildfire will be launching a new lyric video for their latest song, Without You, and need your help. Staff and students from across the Lismore Diocese are invited to create and contribute a piece of art inspired by the song. An extensive selection of the submitted works will be used to create a background for the lyric video.

So get creative and pray with your art using the themes from Without You. Please photograph and send us your artwork using this form by Wednesday 24 June. We cannot wait to see what inspires your artworks!

Praying with Music

Peace - Bethel

Peace is the perfect title for this song by Bethel which would be ideal as a reflective song in preparation for prayer.

“Take a deep breath and be still.”

God I Look to You - Bethel

An artist depicts the power of Good Friday accompanied by an instrumental from Generation City Media.

So Will I - Hillsong

Inspired by God's creation, this is a great example of praying with music.
