Edition Five | 8 April 2020

In this final edition before the great celebration of  Easter Sunday, the focus remains firmly on the Passion of our Lord through Holy Week and the Triduum. Opportunities to engage in online Masses, prayer resources, videos and music have never been more accessible. The Daily Soul brings to you a small collection of these for your personal and professional support and wellbeing.

The Daily Soul will take a break over the Easter period and return on Monday 27 April. An archive of the first 5 editions can be found in the ‘Newsletter Archive’ at the top of this page.

May your Easter be filled with the love and resilience of the resurrected Christ. May we all consider our good fortune to be blessed to live in this great country, as the world comes face to face with its vulnerability.

Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross by Indigenous artist Miriam Rose Ungunmerr-Baumann AM, originally completed in 1974/75

postcard_station_4_850x455.jpg

As Christians around the world prepare to celebrate the holiest time of the year under the shadow of the coronavirus, the image of Jesus being comforted by Mary on his way to the cross reminds us of the need to care for each other in this time of pain and suffering.

The Triduum

Bishop Greg talks with Ellen Hales about the Triduum and making this week a mini-retreat.

Bishop Greg draws our attention to this poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, making an emotional connection to our current reality and endorses Coleridge's revelation of gratitude.

A Special Intention - Pray for Solomon Islands _pdf 630.66 KB

Like the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet is a devotional prayer used by many Catholics. It may be said at any time, but it is recited especially on Divine Mercy Sunday and Fridays at 3:00 PM.

This Friday is Good Friday, a great opportunity to join Wildfire as we sing our way through the Divine Mercy Chaplet and incorporate your prayer intentions from this week's submissions.
