Edition Sixteen | 3rd June 2020

With the Easter Season culminating in Pentecost last Sunday, we now move into the Ordinary Time of our Church. During Ordinary Time we are invited to live, learn and celebrate the whole life of Jesus as we take our direction from Him as His disciples. Through the Holy Spirit the Church was born at Pentecost. As members of the Body of Christ we desire to learn more about our own Mission within the greater Mission of the Church - which is ultimately the Mission of Jesus.

The Church and Mission

John McGrath is an educator with extensive experience in Religious Education in Catholic Schools. He has been the Executive Officer of the National Catholic Education Commission and was instrumental in the publication of A Framework for Formation for Mission in Catholic Education. In this video, John shares with us a reflection on the meaning of Mission within the Church.

Bishop Greg - The Most Holy Trinity

"The Father knows the Son and the Son knows the Father and this knowledge is the Spirit." Bishop Greg Homeming, June 2, 2020
Speaking to young adults this week, Bishop Greg teaches on the Holy Trinity. In this video, Bishop Greg explains the significance of Trinity - the relationship within God, as the core Christian relationship.

Alternatively, here an MP3 version of Bishop Greg's talk for easy listening as a podcast.

Prayer

The most well known of all Christian prayers was given to us directly from Jesus: "He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

Father, hallowed be your name.
    Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
And do not bring us to the time of trial.”

~Luke 11:1-4 ~

The Catechism of the Catholic Church provides an informed view of the origin and development of the Lord’s Prayer, while this editorial from the National Catholic Reporter reflects on recent comments made by Pope Francis and explores the deeper meaning behind each aspect of the prayer: What Am I saying when I say the Lord’s Prayer?

Praying with Music

Without You - Wildfire

Without You was written by Wildfire as a heartfelt and honest response to who Jesus is in our life. It is simply a love song written from a place of enduring gratitude and unshakable hope. Without You reminds us that we are always held by love as our world experiences both the beauty of light and, at times, disorienting darkness. It is our sincere hope that Without You will draw you into an experience of that of love.

Together - For King & Country

Two-time GRAMMY award-winning duo For King & Country makes a powerful statement in this collaboration with Kirk Franklin and Tori Kelly. Filmed in their homes during the quarantine, ‘Together’ collates 2000 messages and stories of people’s experiences throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Is He Worthy - By Andrew Peterson

It is a season of hope. This is an emotive and poetic description of what Jesus did for us. Is He worthy? He is!
