My Learning
This week we move on to the second of our key pillars in becoming the Catholic teacher you were always meant to be.
We live in an historic moment where technology and science accentuate a sense of individual autonomy and technological control. Independence and individual achievements are cornerstones of our cultural notions of success in the developed world. In contrast the epicentre of a Christian worldview is radically different if our independence and our professionalism were enough to save us then we wouldn’t need a “saviour” and the Gospel would be meaningless. The Christian life is about radical dependence on Jesus. The path of dependence is the life-changing decision to take Jesus seriously, it is the life changing decision to entrust both your entire career as well as the next class you teach, into His care, direction and providence. It does not negate professional skills or hard work, it elevates them.
