Students and Staff from across the Diocese celebrated Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday, signifying the commencement of the sacred season of Lent. (13 - 14 February 2024)
On 13 February, a spirit of anticipation swept through the Diocese as staff and students joined together to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. The delightful aroma of pancakes filled the air, creating an atmosphere of joy marked by smiling faces and laughter. It was a moment of shared indulgence, bringing the community closer.
The momentum continued the following day, 14 February, as Ash Wednesday ushered in the beginning of Lent. In a display of unity, students, families, and staff gathered not only to receive ashes but also to embrace the essence of the Lenten season— a commitment to prayer, fasting, and acts of generosity.
As we commemorate the start of Lent, may this Lenten season be a time of reflection, renewal and hope.

The new Music syllabus is now available for years 7-10.
The new syllabus is planned to be implemented in NSW schools in 2026, and schools now have an opportunity to plan and prepare in the meantime.
Key features:
- Interrelated focus areas of Performing, Listening and Composing provide students with experience of the creative process as an individual and in collaboration with others
- Repertoire requirements provide students with opportunities to meaningfully engage with a broad range of music, including the music of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
- The content supports the inclusion of diverse learners, including students who are D/deaf or hard of hearing.
- Life Skills content provides opportunities for students with intellectual disability to make real-world connections as well as music for personal enjoyment and expression.
The syllabuses are now available on the NSW Curriculum website.
Schools have access to support materials, including teaching advice on the NSW Curriculum, to assist them with the implementation of the new syllabuses on this webpage. More resources will be made available to teachers over time, including online, accredited professional development on NESA’s online learning hub.

Student Name: Landon Broadley
Title: Bee Bossa Nova
Statement: A composition that explores the voice in the topic 'Instrument and its Repertoire'. My inspiration is from the quote, 'According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly.' As a vocalist, I wanted to explore a full range of vocal sounds in my exploration and development of this work.
