School communities from across our Diocese came together to show gratitude to the mothers and mother figures in our lives for Mother’s Day. (Week 2)
Our school communities from across the Diocese came together to celebrate Mother’s Day during Week 2, celebrating mums, grandmothers, carers and mother figures in our lives. Many schools marked this special day by holding mass, liturgy, beautiful breakfast picnics, fantastic afternoon tea snacks and wonderful performances at assembly.
From handmade gifts to lunchtime stalls, this is an exciting day for the students as they create a special memory and show gratitude to the mother figures in their life.
Below are images from across the Diocese.
This training is for all Indigenous Education Workers in the diocese.
The course will begin on the evening of Wednesday, 8 June and finish at 2pm on Friday, 10 June.
Venue: Yarrawarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, Corindi Beach
Release Code: C6KA (Two (2) days per participant)
This course will take you on a journey of over 65,000 years from times prior to contact to the present day. The learning throughout this training will challenge some elements of your own knowledge and support you to build the cultural capacity of your school. At the completion of the course you will be a registered trainer of Crossing Cultures Hidden Histories (CCHH).
Please use the following Google Form to register: CCHH Registration Form.
Opportunities for support persons and other interested staff to participate in the course will be added to My Learning at a later date.

The new Australian Curriculum website, hosting the updated and approved Australian Curriculum, Version 9.0, has been launched.
ACARA CEO, David de Carvalho, said the new website was going to give teachers control over the way they view the curriculum and make their work easier: "Teachers will be able to quickly and intuitively find relevant information, and lessons can be more easily planned."
The new Australian Curriculum sets high expectations and standards for what all students should know and be able to do, and was endorsed by education ministers on 1 April 2022.

NESA has advised that all teachers actively maintaining accreditation in 2022 will be given a credit of 5 hours of NESA Accredited PD. This recognises the continued growth that teachers have undertaken in response to the pandemic. These PD hours will appear in your PD Progress Report as either:
- Consolidating and Extending Teaching During COVID-19 (Proficient Teachers);
- Assisting Colleagues to Consolidate and Extend Teaching During COVID-19 (Highly Accomplished Teachers); and
- Leading Initiatives to Consolidate and Extend Teaching During COVID-19 (Lead Teachers).
These PD hours will contribute to your NESA Accredited PD requirements in the priority area 'delivery and assessment of NSW Curriculum/Early Years Learning Framework'. There is no need to evaluate this PD. Teachers will also receive the 5 hours of NESA Accredited PD if they:
- are maintaining accreditation and re-activate their accreditation from a leave of absence before the end of Term 4, 2022
- achieve Proficient Teacher accreditation before the end of Term 4, 2022.
