Catholic school leadership relies on what is in a leader's ''heart". The "heart" is a symbol for all that is at the centre of a person's life. The Spirituality Exercises Retreat in Daily Life is a privileged opportunity for people wishing to be leaders in Catholic education to deepen their loving friendship with Jesus Christ and to clarify where they are called to service.
Please complete the Expression of Interest Google form if you are interested. Closing date is Friday, 25 February.
Attention: Enrolment and Attendance Administration Staff
Staff tasked with the responsibility of managing student attendance and enrolment are reminded of the information and processes identified in the attached memo.
For 60 years Palms has met requests from Catholic partners across Africa, Asia and The Pacific to support sustainable solutions to poverty in education and other community programs. The crucial beneficiaries are those with least opportunity to live full and dignified lives. Pope Francis reminds us of the mutual benefits:
“… if there are poor people … who seek assistance, let us draw close to them … they can be teachers who show us how essential it is to live simply.”
Palms enquirer feedback reveals that our schools are a most effective form of recruiting to meet the requests. In recent meetings with the BCLEM and other Bishops it was agreed that sending notices to teachers via the diocesan school’s offices would be more likely to see the notices published. Please be assured Palms supports people of all ages. Communities abroad especially welcome those who bring the maturity and wisdom of life experience. As well the ACBC provides a great gratuity payment on completion of each 12 months in placement. Feel free to further enquire via palm@palms.org.au.

In 2021, the Catholic Schools Office (CSO) took a considered approach to recruitment while its organisational structure was reviewed and realigned. The introduction of the leadership roles was balanced against existing budgeted positions, including the reduction in the number of School Service Consultants and reshaping leadership positions.
Subsequently, a rigorous process has been introduced for assessing CSO recruitment requests. Requests now require presenting a formal business case, using the criteria of alignment to our future model and establishing a critical need. All recruitment requests (excluding casual appointments) require formal Executive approval. These steps will ensure our recruitment aligns with the Shared Future Program and school needs.
As the new leadership roles and Portfolio structure are in place, we will build capacity in critical areas. This will involve recruiting for new positions as well as replacing 2021 resignations to align with the new structure. For example, the CSO will undertake a recruitment process to replace the vacant positions of Payroll Manager, Procurement Officer, Technology Assistant and Technology Officer following resignations and retirement of staff in these positions. As our governance transition continues to take shape, we will need to adequately support those corporate service areas needed to meet our regulatory obligations.
The Transformation Team is working with the Regional Service Leaders to provide more detail to schools once the timing is more appropriate

Mentoring for Effective Teaching (MET Training)
This training will be offered to non-MET trained graduate mentors via online learning this year. The course will consist of 11 sessions with activities related to each MET session. The program will take approximately 20 hours (12 hours for engaging in the sessions and 8 hours to complete the activities). As activities are completed, participants will upload them into a portfolio that will be assessed by a qualified university academic who is also a MET facilitator. The course will be open from Week 9, Term 1 and run until the end of Term 2 so participation is self-paced. There will be three one hour zoom sessions with Dr Sue Hudson and/or Dr Peter Hudson to engage with the content and others completing the course. Participants will be provided with 3 days funding via the Mentor Pool funding in the Graduate Formation program. Candidates will be invited to register via MyLearning. For more information please refer to: https://metprogram.com/
