Mission: one heart many voices 2021 is a three-day online conference which aims to provide participants with an opportunity of holistic formation and transformation, for personal and professional development and to enable us all to live the joy of the Gospel and lead mission NOW. The program brings together speakers and presenters from both local and overseas contexts, to share their wisdom and passion for mission with all at the conference.
Details about the conference, including the program and speakers, can be found at https://www.catholicmission.org.au/get-involved/mohmv-mission-one-heart-many-voices. Some keynote speakers include: Dr Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr Baumann AM, Mr Hugh MacKay AO, Cardinal Luis Antonio Gokim Tagle and Mr Robert Fitzgerald AM.
The 2017 OHMV conference was the catalyst for the Inaugural Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools Office, Wilcannia Mission in 2018. It is our hope that the fruits of this 2021 conference would be just as rich.
Schools are invited to apply to be part of this exciting opportunity by completing the Expression of Interest (EOI) below. Three days of release funding would be made available to support attendance at the conference; this may be used to allow a number of staff to participate over the course of the three days of the conference. For example, one person to attend each day of the conference.
If you have any questions around this process, please contact Catherine McAleer (Mobile: 0428 586 387). The closing date for EOIs is Monday, 23 August, 2021.
Catholic Schools Office - Resignation
Lesleigh Altmann has tendered her resignation from her position as Digital Learning Coach with the Catholic Schools Office effective 26 January 2022. Lesleigh's commitment to her role with the Catholic Schools Office and Lismore Diocese over the past 34 years is highly valued and greatly appreciated. We wish Lesleigh all the best for the future.
This Sunday, 15 August, we celebrate the solemnity of the Feast of the Assumption. Teachers may wish to pray this prayer before Sunday Mass (or especially those in lockdown may wish to pray it this weekend).
Blessed is She
Lord, having completed the course of her earthly life, your pure servant Mary was assumed body and soul into heaven. Her assumption reminds us that heavenly glory in you is our destiny. As we keep the end of life’s pilgrimage before us, we join with Mary in praising your greatness.
Lord grant me both faith and simplicity in this.
Amen.
9 June 2021: St Francis Xavier Primary School, Woolgoolga, hosted a special community event 'Standing in Solidarity' with the Woolgoolga Sikh community in response to the Indian COVID crisis.
'St Francis Xavier Primary School brought two faith communities together in vigil and prayer to recognise the impact of the pandemic on the marginalised around the world. There is not much else that we can do in our community where there is a real need at present. As Catholic schools it is our mission to support those who are marginalised in our community and across the globe. Through the connection and celebration of our communities, there was a tangible sense of the Spirit in deep solidarity with all present,' stated Principal Troy Baker.
The evening included Sikh hymn singing, dancing, a candlelight vigil, prayer and finished with the hymn 'We are Messengers' led by the St Francis Xavier choir and Bobby Kandola. All in attendance were then delighted with a delicious ‘shared meal’ from the Sikh community.
Parent Lainie shared, 'what a beautiful evening! I enjoyed every moment of our school and local faith communities coming together in the universal languages of prayer, song, and a shared meal! I am so proud of the students involved and what a great experience for the students who weren’t! Thank you to all staff, students and community who coordinated the event, it was really well done. Hopefully, this can become a regular event.'
'It felt heartwarming when our communities came together in support of the Sikh community especially because of COVID-19. Our Catholic school community got to listen to Sikh prayers which felt really good. The Sikh community got to show our school what being Sikh is all about,' said Year 5 student Sahib Singh.
'I had the pleasure to attend and be a part of the Solidarity Night held at St Francis Xavier and must say that it was a very calm and beautiful night. It was lovely to see two faiths together praying for the less unfortunate people in the world suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic,' said parent Anita.

Eligible 2021 candidates who wish to apply for Proficient Teacher Accreditation, need to be aware of the application timeframe. Applications are to be submitted in eTAMs prior to 5 November for processing within the 2021 school year.
We would like to invite schools to contribute student artwork for display at the Catholic Schools Office at Presentation House in Lismore, Coffs Harbour Annex and Invercauld House, Goonellabah. Each school may contribute eight original art pieces. The artwork will be catalogued in a booklet and distributed to Lismore Diocesan schools, Parish Offices and national Catholic School Offices.
Please complete the 2021 Semester 2 CSO Student Art Display Expressions of Interest form by Monday 23 August (Term 3, Week 7). Jan Seymour will coordinate the collection of art from your school before Friday 10 September (Term 3, Week 9).
