We have pleasure in announcing the following appointments:
Nivedita Maharana has been appointed to the position of Data Officer commencing on 15 June 2021. Nivedita is a Business Intelligence Analyst with five years experience as Senior Business Intelligence & Reporting Developer for Citi Group Singapore and more recently based in the Northern Rivers freelancing for both domestic and international clients.
Emma Sydes has been appointed to the position of Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director, Finance & Operations commencing on 21 June 2021. Emma has 7 years experience as an Executive Assistant. Her most recent role was with TAFE NSW as Executive Assistant to the General Manager of Strategy & Policy.
Adam Kelly has been seconded to the position of Student Information System Specialist / Subject Matter Expert 7-12 (SIS-SME) working on the Compass Project. Adam will commence in the role 26 July 2021 until the end of the 2023 school year. At the conclusion of this temporary appointment Adam will return to his position as Assistant Principal at MacKillop College Port Macquarie.
We congratulate Adam, Nivedita and Emma on their appointments.

The Year 1 Phonics Screening Check is an optional online reading assessment available to Catholic Schools NSW with a Year 1 student cohort.
Schools that choose to use the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check will have the flexibility to schedule the assessment to best suit their school and student needs within the assessment window.
Online professional learning will be available to support both the administration of the assessment and the analysis of results. More information including how to access Professional Learning will be available after opting in.
The access fee is $2 per student for schools not participating in the NSW Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan (2017-2021). Schools will be invoiced for the access fees following the assessment window.

If your school wishes to participate in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, please register by Thursday 24 June using the following link. Please note the column indicating if your school is part of the NSW Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan (2017-2021).

Please Note:
- A Fact Sheet is attached.
- Details of how teachers can access the PL (most likely through MyPL) will be forwarded as soon as possible. Please ensure your school provides accurate information in the opt-in survey, particularly the correct AGEID and whether or not the school is an Action Plan / Supplementary School.
- CEnet has committed to upload student registration data for those schools that opt-in and are new to ALAN/PLAN2.

The Registration and Accreditation process in 2021 is for Languages and Creative Arts. During Term 3 schools will peer-review other schools' curriculum and assessment documentation. In consultation with the CSO Education Officers, participants will create a report that indicates compliance and suggests possible areas for improvement.
