Staff Farewell
Kate Jones has resigned from her position as Education Officer with the Catholic Schools Office, Lismore. Kate is currently on parental leave and will return to her substantive position at St Finbarr’s Primary School, Byron Bay in 2022.
The annual LEAD Conference will return to McAuley Catholic College, Grafton on 11-12 March, 2021. Information for planning and implementation in schools can be found in the attachment.
Schools may wish to be involved in this virtual event. Please click here for more details.
The annual Incitāre retreats for selected Year 6 students will be held at the following venues:
- Tuesday, 2 March
- Port Macquarie - Port Macquarie Youth Hub
- Lismore - Tullera Hall, Tullera
- Friday, 5 March
- Grafton - McAuley Catholic College Hall, Grafton
- Tuesday, 9 March
- Coffs Harbour - Toormina Sports and Recreation Club, Toormina
- Tweed Heads - Murwillumbah Parish Meeting Centre, Murwillumbah
Joining with students from nearby schools in a safe, supportive environment, participants will engage in large and small group activities. Youth Ministry students from a variety of secondary colleges will help facilitate the program. The themes of the day explore:
- Values in life
- Courage and ways to be a disciple
- How to make a difference in the world
Information for schools, including student allocation, will be emailed to leaders.
A free toolkit for educators and families, The Good Mood Food Special, has been introduced by Hort Innovation’s Phenomenon project, designed to give children the right tools to learn how to boost their mood and have a positive mindset.
Teacher guide, lesson plans and resources for Stage 2 to Stage 5 can be accessed via the following link: https://phenomenom.com.au/.
Teacher resource video: https://youtu.be/J8LMCgUxzco
Three surveys have been released including:
- lower primary (F-Year 3)
- upper primary (Years 4-6)
- secondary (Years 7-12)
Please note NESA’s Interim Arrangements will ensure no teacher is disadvantaged through this transition period due to a limited number of NESA Accredited courses being offered in the first six months of 2021 (see attachment - slide 10). For teachers whose maintenance is due in 2021 all PD that meets the Standards will count towards a teacher’s overall PD hours so the requirement for 100 hours of PD can be met.
Teachers need to log PD that meets Standards as Elective PD as an ongoing process in eTAMS in 2021.
Teachers are reminded that Elective PD needs to meet Standards and NESA Criteria for Elective PD. Catholic school teachers also participate in PD to maintain Accreditation to Work Teach Lead in a Catholic school. Retreats, Spirituality Days and Proclaim along with learning such as Catholic Worldview Permeation does not usually meet NESA criteria for Elective PD.
In the attached memo is the latest update for NAPLAN 2021, a complete list of the due dates for Disability Adjustment applications and further details in regards to the assessment process.
Through the Certified Coach Program, coaches have access to a structured curriculum and research-based 5-step coaching model. The year-long curriculum helps coaches develop skills to align coaching with school and diocesan goals, build strong teacher relationships, measure coaching impact and help educators use technology meaningfully in their classrooms.
Lesleigh is available to work with teachers in the Lismore Diocese. Teachers can use Digital Learning Appointment Calendar to book in for support.
Closing date for applications is by 5.00pm Friday, 26 February.
Full details, including how to apply, are in the attached flyer. For further support, please contact Kurt Challinor (Secondary Learning & Teaching Consultant).
This checklist is most helpful as you start your school year working collaboratively with your Teacher Assistants.
