The formation program for Graduate Teachers is a two-year program for early career teachers. Teachers in their first and second years of teaching in the Diocese of Lismore participate in eight face-to-face days across the two-year period. The program includes important learning and formation that is vital for early career teachers. Teachers in their first year (Group A) and second year (Group B) of the program will participate in separate, tailored programs to suit their needs with the second year program building on the 2020 program.
Please see the My Learning section below for registration details.
The use of effective assessment to inform teacher practice and track student growth is essential in ensuring that student learning and teacher instruction is differentiated and personalised to student need. Teachers in the Diocese of Lismore use the PM Benchmark and Probe Reading Assessments to build a holistic understanding of the reading behaviours and comprehension of each student, using this information to inform the learning and teaching of reading.
After the release of the Reading Assessment Guidelines in 2020, feedback has been sought from a number of schools and updates have been made. These updates include, but are not limited to, clarity around Kindergarten exemptions from reading data collection in Term 1, examples of the Student Diagnostic Data Site templates that must be used in order for your data to link to the Data Analytics Site, and clarity around which PM Benchmark level is recorded to ensure consistency in data collection across the diocese.
Please refer to this link for the Reading Assessment Guidelines.
Staff requiring access to Scout, ALAN or the PRC will need a NETid account and/or a DoE Portal active account. Please note that if access to Scout is the only requirement there is no need to have a DoE account. Further details and instructions are listed in the attached memo. Also included is information from CSNSW in regards to the NETid site with the option of a single sign-on with a Google or Microsoft account being available in the near future.
Opportunities exist for schools to apply for grants in the area of the Arts.
Arts Partnerships grants provide the opportunity for diocesan schools to partner with creative professionals as artists in residence or arts and cultural organisations. For more information on Arts Partnership grants, and to apply, follow this link.
Expressions of Interest for Arts Grants close on Monday 8 February, 2021.

The Catholic Schools Office has received a number of enquiries from staff regarding reminder emails for SALT modules.
Reminder emails are sent when SALT units have not been completed at the 12 month expiry date.
If you are unsure whether you have completed the SALT units, you can check your information within the SALT software:
- Log into SALT https://csolismore.saltcompliance.com/ and click on My Training.
- Check the last completion date and when it is due to be completed again.
- Click on the individual course name, this will show you when you last completed the modules and how many days until it is due again.
SALT certificates are not to be used for proof of completion for SALT modules as they create variances depending on the way you have completed your units e.g. all together or on different dates.
The school is also provided with a monthly report which has the expiry dates staff can check.
If you have any questions please email dio-saltsupport@lism.catholic.edu.au and we will assist.
Staff are reminded to register for all professional learning courses through the My Learning site. The site has the facility to recommend courses to others. This will be potentially useful for Principals and Assistant Principals who wish to recommend staff to register for particular courses.
Staff are reminded that the closing date for courses is five working days prior to the course.
