THE WAY (Term 4 Week 2 - 19 October 2020)
As highlighted in last weeks newsletter, the Strategic Directions Planning process is underway. Over the next few weeks’ videos will be posted in 'The Leader' and 'The Way' showcasing school leaders, school staff, clergy and Catholic Schools Office staff providing their thoughts on their aspirations for Catholic education in the Diocese of Lismore and some big ideas they have to make it better.
.
It has been decided that in the 2021 school year, written personalised plans for Students with Disabilities via the CSNSW site will not be a compulsory component of the National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) evidence base for the following students:
- Students with an overall level of adjustment at Supplementary level - the same as 2020
- Students with an overall level of adjustment at Substantial level - new for 2021
The Catholic Schools Office Learning Services Team will continue to work with teachers to ensure quality programming meets NCCD evidence data and all evidence is stored on Schoolworx or Compass.
Please note that evidence of consultation with parents is required. It is recommended that teachers still meet with parents on a regular basis and in a more formal manner, depending on the level of adjustments. Minutes of these meetings are to be recorded and stored on Schoolworx or Compass.
As we all move to a better integration of evidence, students whose adjustments are at an extensive level will still be required to have four Catholic Schools NSW Plans.
To support schools currently using, or considering the use of PAT assessments, ACER's school engagement team will be facilitating a suite of online sessions (with a move to face-to-face sessions post COVID-19 restrictions). Please find attached an overview of ACER's 2020 video consultations for your reference.
Please note that initial consultations (20 minutes total) are free and include options such as:
- What is PAT?
- Chat with a PAT expert
- Chat with an OARS expert
- Chat about other ACER assessments
Extended and more targeted consultations (60-90 minutes in total) are also available, however, they do incur a fee as outlined in the attached overview.
For further information or support regarding PAT assessments please contact Christy Ismay or your Education Officer.
Congratulations are in order for the students and ex-students who were announced as runner-ups in the NSW Training Awards. This is a very successful result, once again showcasing the consistent quality of our students and teachers from the Diocese of Lismore at a State level.
