This week we explore a new Church document: The Catholic School On the Threshold of the Third Millennium.
The documents state ‘Education faces new challenges which are the result of a new social-political and cultural context. First and foremost, we have a crisis of values which, in highly developed societies in particular assumes the form, often exalted by the media of subjectivism, moral relativism and Nihilism (The Catholic School On the Threshold the Third Millennium)’.
To be effective evangelists, educators and witnesses we need to have a deep understanding of the culture our young people experience. There could be several students deeply affected by their experience of subjectivism. This is the lens through which students eventually come to evaluate everything through what it offers them and their own life projects and goals. Subjectivism can lead to radical solitude and selfishness. It is also directly opposed to the Gospel values of empathy, compassion service and putting others first.

PAYMENT OF NEW SOUTH WALES EDUCATION STANDARDS AUTHORITY (NESA) ACCREDITATION FEE
Catholic Schools Office has received advice from NESA in relation to overdue fees from a number of our teachers. The purpose of this message is to notify all our employees of this advice with a view to limiting any impact on our schools and students in the event that payments are not made by 12 June 2019.
Under section 25 of the Teacher Accreditation Act 2004, accredited teachers must pay an annual teacher accreditation fee to NESA as a condition of their accreditation.
All teachers need to be accredited with NESA to teach and as a part of this accreditation pay the annual accreditation fee. If any staff have not yet paid their fee they are requested to do so. It is also essential that staff details are accurate in the teacher's profile on eTAMS, otherwise they may not have received these notices.
According to NESA, teachers have received three reminders to pay their outstanding fees. We have been advised that any teacher who does not pay their annual fee by 12 June 2019 will be notified that NESA intends to suspend their accreditation on 28 June 2019. The employer will have to suspend non-financial teachers and they will be unable to work in any school in NSW until their suspension is reversed. The suspension will be leave without pay.
If any teacher has evidence of serious financial hardship, they can contact NESA to discuss a payment plan.
